Programs
Baseball Services offers all of the following
programs to towns, leagues and associations (with the exception
of the Summer Baseball Camp and the Pitcher/Catchers Camp which
is held in Scotch Plains and South Plainfield, NJ). Some programs
can be brought into your community with our own coaching staff
or we may be able to use some members of your own coaching staff.
Summer Baseball Camp:
a full service camp that offers quality instruction in hitting,
bunting, throwing, fielding, baserunning, infield and outfield play
and team defense.
Pitchers/Catchers Camp: a
specialized camp that offers quality instruction in the positions
of pitcher and catcher only. Pitchers learn proper throwing mechanics,
controlling the various pitches from the windup and stretch positions,
pick-off moves, fielding the position and strategy. Catchers focus
on stances and receiving the ball with good swaying and framing,
blocking balls in the dirt, throwing to all bases, catching foul
flies and teaming up with pitchers for dual strategy sessions.
Fall Instructional Baseball
League: An in-town, intrasquad league that meets once a
week for a session of instruction followed by an intrasquad game.
Winter Workouts:
indoor workout sessions conducted in groups or for teams that meet
weekly for instruction and practice.
Spring Training Clinics:
a weekend clinic held prior to the start of the baseball season
to both instruct the novice on the basics of the game as well as
fine tune the skills of te seasoned player.
Private Lessons:
One-on-one sessions that allow for personalized instruction on any
phase of the game that the player desires. There is no minimum lesson
requirement, so players can have lessons on a needs basis, get evaluated
in a “checkup,” or simply get over the hump of a slump.
Coaches Clinics:
It is the heartfelt desire of Baseball Services to help train volunteer
youth league coaches in the basics of baseball fundamentals in order
that they may effectively teach, and train the teams they coach
in the spring. Clinics can be position or topic specific or can
be custom designed to meet the needs of your town’s baseball
program. Sessions can include how to run an effective practice,
recognizing common playing mistakes, teaching techniques that are
simple and easy to remember, and showing step-by-step progressive
training methods to help young ballplayers learn the proper fundamentals
the right way the first time.
